Today, the Exelon Foundation is powering South by South Lawn, The White House’s festival of ideas, art and action. The event brings together inventors, creators and big thinkers who are making a positive impact on our society.

And that’s where Exelon comes in. The Exelon Foundation, an independent, nonprofit philanthropic organization funded solely by Exelon Corporation (NYSE: EXC), acknowledges the science behind and the reality of climate change. We support the organizations and people who are working to advance clean energy and solve this global problem.

Our communities today need energy that is abundant, always on, clean and affordable. They want to take more control over their energy use so they only use what they need, when they need it. We’re helping make that happen.

Bloom Energy Servers use innovative solid oxide fuel cell technology to produce electricity from natural gas. Exelon formed a first-of-its-kind partnership with Bloom Energy to provide the fuel cells to meet surging demand for distributed generation.

As the only Fortune 100 company in its sector and operator of the nation’s largest clean energy fleet, Exelon Corporation has a unique opportunity — and responsibility — to lead the industry in the exploration, development and deployment of the next generation of clean, diverse energy technologies.

Constellation Technology Ventures (CTV) was created to drive innovation inside and outside our company, and provide new solutions to our customers and communities.

In the spirit of good old-fashioned American ingenuity, Exelon Corp. is partnering with forward-thinking government agencies, top universities like MIT and Northwestern, national labs and technology companies to find the new technologies that will move us forward into a clean energy future. For example, a new group within Exelon called “TechEXChange” is focused on emerging energy technologies, including battery storage, fuel cells, alternative fueled vehicles and more.

Exelon Corp. is also transforming the nation’s power grid through smart grid investments, microgrid development and localized generation, including solar. And we’ve started to use new tools, such as drones, to inspect our power lines and generation equipment, helping to prevent power outages.

One way Exelon encourages innovation and collaboration: our Innovation Expos that bring employees together to get inspired and share ideas. Here, an employee discusses ways to digitize damage assessment to CEO Chris Crane.

All of this is to say that we support South by South Lawn, because we share its mission of bringing together the best and brightest minds across the United States to improve the lives of our fellow Americans and people worldwide. We look forward to partnering with them to lead the way toward a brighter, more sustainable energy future.
