Doing Just Enough

Too little brings boredom, too much brings stress, find “just enough”

Good morning!

Have you ever had just enough things on your plate?

When you don’t have enough things to do, you get into boredom, and when you have too many things on your plate, you crash from having to do too many things all at once, quickly burning out due to stress; however, if and when you find the perfect balance of “just enough,” you end up in a position where you go to bed at night fulfilled, knowing that you really truly did make the most of your day.

I’ve been trying to use my Google Calendar a whole lot more recently, trying to keep tabs on my weeknights and make sure I spend time with the people I love and also get some really necessary things done (such as cleaning my car today, inside and out).

Although most of my plans are still generally spontaneous due to the nature of my close friendships—I literally had someone come over to watch Friends with me last night with a 15-minute notice—I have realized that it’s incredibly useful to at least allow for time-blocks in my schedule where I map things out. For example, today after work I’ve got to wash and vacuum out my car, then pick up my chess set from home, head to a friend’s house, then afterward watch one of my other friends perform at their university.

Having just a roughly-sketched blueprint of the day definitely helps me, and maybe it might just help you too.

If you haven’t done so in a while, maybe you can open up your calendar app and see if planning ahead is something you may benefit from. Feel free to email me and share your results!

God bless you, have a great day!
