Why it’s always a good idea to have quick mantras for yourself that encourage you

Good morning!

Have you ever used the Google Chrome extension, Momentum Dash?

In case you are unfamiliar with it (see image), Momentum Dash is a really neat browser extension that very simply and neatly gives you a quick overview of your day; with everything from world time, a calendar countdown, the weather, time, a daily picture, quote, and mantra, it very simply provides quite a bit of functionality, and the paid function is very inexpensive.

One of their newest features that they added is the ability to have a mantra underneath the time instead of just “Good morning, David”; in the premium version, they even let you write your own mantras and let you say whatever you want to say. Yesterday, as I messed around with the feature a bit, I decided to add a bunch of short encouraging quotes that address some of the challenges and struggles I’ve been facing lately (for example, it’s way more difficult to be generous in terms of offering rides to other people and driving all over the place when your car’s fuel efficiency is less than half of what your previous car’s was).

Let’s face it; you know yourself better than just about every living creature on the face of the earth. You know what encourages and what discourages you, and you know all the challenges that you face. You are extremely familiar with your pains and your hardships, and you know what you long to hear in times of difficulty. So how about you write encouragement for yourself?

Listen, I’ll keep writing these emails and encourage and exhort my readers with no end in sight, but wouldn’t it be great if you learned how to encourage yourself?

I don’t know what will work for you. I don’t know if you need to write yourself encouraging notes on flash cards or sticky notes or send yourself emails, or whatever other creative solutions you might be able to come up with, but one thing I am learning is that it really is crucial to be able to encourage yourself. If you desire to live life to the fullest, of course you’ll have people in your life who love you and are ready to support you, but they will never be with you as much as you yourself. So, whatever it takes, try to find a solution for something you can do to encourage yourself; and as you strengthen yourself, you can be strong for those who need your strength.

God bless you, have a great day!
