Snoozing Wars

Good morning!

Have you ever waged a war against yourself?

I found myself in a stalemate this morning. On the one hand, I wanted to wake up early — henceforth why I set my alarms back 15 minutes a couple weeks ago — but, being tired from waking up so early, I went right back to bed.

With the alarm on my phone, I managed to set up this really cool thing where if I don’t dismiss my alarm, my snooze periods decrease each time, meaning that at first, it’ll snooze for 7 minutes, then for 5, then 3, then 1, until eventually I’m at the point where I must acknowledge how pathetic it is to be in a stalemate against myself and my own alarms.

Now, the moment I said “snooze,” I already know that at least half of you were already agreeing with me and saying Amen, but… we tend to wage wars against ourselves in a lot more areas than just our refusal to get out of bed.

For example, we give ourselves cold feet. We want to do something, and we really do intend to do it, then at the last minute we chicken out and decide it’s better to play it safe. People cancel a lot of deals from this.

In the Scriptures, the writers exhort us and tell us that whatever we do, we ought to do it with all our might. If we have reservations, let’s clearly address those, but once we’ve set aside our reasonable doubts, let’s do what we set out to do.

God bless you, have a great day!
