This Christmas, Be Kind

Everybody hurts. Especially at the happiest time of the year, those aches are often amplified. Be kind.

Good morning!

As we near the holidays, I want to leave you with a bit of encouragement.

I want to remind you that everyone is not only just as valuable as you are, but also just as broken, just as much in need of lovingkindness, encouragement, and grace.

Even if someone’s life may look way better on the outside — and hey, maybe it actually is better — doesn’t mean that they’re not just as human as you and me. Everyone has their own buttons that can be pushed, everyone has limits on their patience, and everyone bleeds if wounded enough.

Now, while I wouldn’t necessarily call it a Christmas song, I believe there is truth in the song titled “Everybody Hurts”; we all hurt in some ways, from the beggar to the billionaire, the doctor and the missionary.

This holiday season, as you prepare to interact with friends, family, and/or strangers, please remember that: they are just as human, just as vulnerable, and just as much in need of kindness and grace as you.

This Christmas, I want you to remember that everyone you interact with is just as human as you, so please, be kind — yes, even if they don’t deserve it.

God bless you, and if you don’t hear from me, Merry Christmas!
