Embracing Imperfection: The Road to Building a Creative Legacy
From lightning strikes to starting over–it’s time to build something that lasts
It’s a bright and shiny new year, but the trials and tribulations of 2024 have me thinking more and more about legacy. I’ve been trying to kick off a publishing practice for what seems like years, only to fail over and over and over again.
It always seems there are more pieces that I need to put into place to get started. After spending the last week trying to get everything positioned just so, I’ve realized it’s never going to happen.
So I just need to start.
As an example, you’ll notice that isn’t one of my photos at the top of this post. After a literal lightning strike last year, I’ve been working to get my photo library back up and running. But I’m not quite there. For the time being, I’ll use available photos from flickr for my header images.
What am I going to write about?
Excellent question, I’m glad you asked.
Out of the numerous topics I’m interested in covering, I’ll try to narrow it down to a few broad categories that are tangentially linked, at least in my head.
- Legacy
- Creativity
- Photography
- Alternative social media platforms
- Switching to Linux and open source software
You’ll notice there’s no invitation to join my newsletter at the end of this article. That’s another of the pieces that are not in place. Bear with me for a little while. I’m not waiting any longer.
