Release notes Feb. 2018
The purpose of this series of posts is to highlight newly deployed features. It will be the users’ primary source of information about the evolution of our platform. In addition to changes to the user interface we will also provide updates on important bug fixes. It is important that all our users, whether they are an artist, venue, or fan, are kept up to date with any improvements and changes we have made. Each new post might include one of the following sections.
The Frontend section will include changes to the main page. These changes will affect all users and will therefore be at the top of each feature log. In the Dashboard section we will talk about changes to the artist dashboard. From time to time we will also have Other notable things that we want to tell you.
Frontend
Putting the finishing touches on the landing page
Using some of the gorgeous photos shot by Nikolaus Ostermann, our new landing page content was deployed. This was the final step necessary for the beta to launch. We also added a Spotlight section that currently features some of our classical music offerings.
Requesting artists
Since we have only just launched our beta, you might not be able to find your favourite artists on our platform yet. You can now tell us who you would like to see next on Exit Live.
Dashboard
Bulk drag and drop uploads
It is now possible to drag and drop multiple audio files into a show, and assign the tracks later on.
Create audio previews from the middle of the track instead of the beginning
We found that previews starting from the beginning of the recording rarely provide a good feeling about the song. From now on, all previews will start from the middle. The preview is still 30 seconds long. Therefore we introduced a minimum audio recording duration of 90 seconds.
One less step when creating a new track
When you are editing a show, and need to create a new track, the track is now automatically added to your show, so it’s even easier and faster for you to create your setlist.
A few other things
A new dedicated press page
Instead of only linking to a public Google Drive directory we added a dedicated press page. In addition to the press media center, you will also find the option to directly contact Ian Roberts from A Star.
Added possibility to gift shows
We now allow gifting a show to an email address even if there is no user registered to that email as yet. In case the user is registered, they receive an email, notifying them of the gifted show, with the cover of the show (similar to purchase receipt). Users that don’t have an account yet, receive an email with the link to complete the registration (and the information that they were gifted a show), and are presented with the link to the gifted show after finishing the registration.

Added ability to create links for specific users
If a user receives an email with a link to a show, and they click on the link, but they were logged out in the meantime (or switched user) it could cause confusion because the link was meant to be viewed as a specific logged in user.
We now generate special links, that include the user’s email address in them. So when the user follows the link, and are not logged in, they get this login prompt.
Purchases in pound sterling
We already supported payouts to GBP. Now we also added support for purchases in GBP.
Current currency conversions rates
Our price tables were updated to reflect the current currency conversion rates.
