Behind the Curtain

As I type this Medium post, coding is happening. My computer is waiting for a key to be typed or a mouse to be clicked as I ponder my next thought. After reading this fascinating article about code, it was undeniable how big of a world happens behind my screen. Programmers may seem like geeky young people relentlessly typing away, but they deal with immense obstacles every single day to bring us technological luxuries we have come to take for granted. Who would have thought that the easy act of sending an email actually requires lengthy deliberation, selection and redaction of code? Programmers, thus, are problem-solving, world-optimizing hard workers. They perform all while knowing that their code may be obsolete come three months. Their work is ever-changing and merciless, but when it works, it creates the platform for innovation, such as the Internet.
