Right now, there exists a growing, and deeply problematic, skills gap between the available workforce and jobs. This issue is not localized to the United States but common to the global economy.

Many workers, especially younger ones, are finding it increasingly difficult to acquire jobs that match their skills and education. A recent LinkedIn survey found that 37 percent of job seekers do not feel as though their current positions fulfill or challenge their skill set. Likewise, employers are also struggling to hire workers whose skills match their needs. In a 2014 Manpower survey, 36 percent of employers surveyed reported that they could not find hires with the right skills.

The recent success of online talent platforms, such as LinkedIn, are a testament to the increasing need for skills-based connection. McKinsey estimates that by 2025 online talent platforms “could raise global GDP by up to $2.7 trillion and increase employment by 72 million full-time equivalent positions.”[1] The same report continues to show that 540 million people “could find employment, increase the number of hours they work, or find jobs that are a better fit.”

Expercoin addresses a growing demand for skills based education and connection by providing a platform that bridges potential hires and employers together through upskilling. This skill-based connection not only solves inefficiencies in the workplace but builds upon previous platforms by providing both the professional connection and upskilling resource. This way, employers can be sure that their employees have the skills requisite to the position, and employees can feel as though they are in a position that matches their interests and skills.
