XP Wallet Maintenance Release — Version 1.1.0.2
We have released a maintenance update for our desktop wallets on Windows, Mac and Linux. This update focuses on DNS seeds and improving overall speed of the wallet.
Steps to take:
Please follow the instructions below to update your wallet:
- Backup your wallet.dat (make sure to backup this file before doing anything)
2. Close your XP-qt wallet
3. Download new files from https://www.xpcoin.io/downloads/ and unzip into your XP Wallet folder
4. Restart your XP Wallet and you should be all set!

Updates
DNS Seeds: Wallets find peers on the internet because of two reasons. The wallet by default will connect to an IRC server and chill out in channel with other wallets. Each one asks who is here when it joins and gets a reply from all other wallets in that channel. This issue is the number of wallets answering exceeds the IRC channels max limit on sends. This effects wallets from being able to find each other in the quickest way possible.
DNS Seeds help by providing dedicated IP address of peers to wallets that are valid. This is a high breed DNS server that performs faster than IRC without the limits of answering large numbers of queries. We have established 3 DNS seed servers.
Speed Improvements: Changes to wallet code have improved overall loading speed. Be advised that loading times will still vary depending on the computer.
