Why Should We Work Out Loud?

Tweeting, blogging, being invited to do talks — it’s all about the ego isn’t it?

That’s actually been said to me.

For most people I know sharing their thoughts and knowledge has actually gained them very little financial reward, if any.

For me it’s about learning styles and how I order my thoughts.

If I read something I can forget it very quickly.

If I write something and reference the source it’s committed to memory forever.

There’s another reason though I think working out loud should be encouraged.

It could represent the quiet revolution of the 50%. The introverts who don’t think they’ve got too much to say.

If we don’t engage the people who are quietly getting on with stuff — we just end up listening to the usual suspects.

Arguably if you’re not encouraging working out loud in your organisation — you’re ignoring half your staff.
