Blog moved to Personal Website
Hi! It has been fun maintaining this blog. I have learned a lot about ML, deep learning, NLP, and lots more since I started writing here, and I hope you have learned a few things too.
However, one of my grievances with Medium has always been its lack of LaTeX support. I have tried to overcome it by using textual descriptions as much as possible, and using images for equations when absolutely necessary. However, text and images can only do so much — LaTeX is irreplacable.
For the last few weeks, I have been on the lookout of alternatives to Medium, and while Wordpress looked promising, I think I am done with third-party blogging websites. Most academics, particularly in Computer Science, blog on their own websites, and with Github Pages, maintaining one has never been easier.
Again, when I started using Github Pages last year, its native Jekyll did not provide LaTeX support. Today, though, I came across Hugo, and in particular, its Academic theme.
It couldn’t have come to me at a better time. I am unemployed and waiting to start grad school next month. How better to utilize my free time than move my website and blog to a new Hugo-based template.
And I just did that. You can check out my new website here. I am in the process of moving the blog posts to my new personal website, and I’ll probably get that done in the next couple of days.
I will still keep blogging on Medium about informal things and book reviews though, if you are interested in that kind of stuff.
This comes at a strange time, I suppose, since my publication has almost reached 100 followers. I will try to find a way to create some notification service, maybe something like an RSS feed, so that you can subscribe to it to keep abreast of new posts.
Thanks for reading!
