Then, we arrived at the First Rubber Tree in Malaysia. The first rubber tree was planted in 1877 near the Kuala Kangsar district office. There were nine trees planted in total and to today only one has survived. The rubber tree seeds were first brought to Malaysia from Kew Gardens in London to Singapore, and then overland to Kuala Kangsar by Henry N Ridley. Ridley was the man responsible for turning Kuala Kangsar into the first rubber industry district in Malaysia.

The fenced-off first rubber tree of Malaysia

After awhile, we went to see an old rubber tree. Since I was a kid I had been visiting this tree and it keeps standing strong year after year. I think am going to die first before the three. Long live heaven!

This is indeed an interesting location for a visit. Surrounding that tree is a comfortable feeling of the olden days in a historical place. The huge tree is amazing and from it we can catch a glimpse of the history that happened throughout its life span. It was definitely a very good place to visit.

It’s located near the Kuala Kangsar district office and it’s the only surviving rubber tree out of nine that were originally planted. H.N Ridley was the man responsible to plant that first rubber tree. Rubber then became an important source of income for Malaysia. At one point, Malaysia produced the most rubber in the world!
