Genghis Khan, born as Temujin in the Mongol steppe, would be remembered as the founder of the largest contiguous land empire in history.

From humble beginnings in a nomadic tribe, although with noble blood in his veins, he rose to become Genghis Khan, which means Universe Leader.

He would be remembered for many of his countless achievements. The Mongol law was made and later “exported” in his time.

He united the wandering nomads of the Mongol steppe and gave them a common purpose. Khan introduced a level of meritocracy in his administration and provided a safe route for the silk route.

He was religiously tolerant and promoted tolerance. He patronized priests and imams and gave special status to scholars and skilled men.

However, he lives in infamy for his brutality. His conquests saw the murder of 40 million people — so many people were killed that he unwittingly reversed global warming.

Large swathes of land were depopulated and reclaimed by nature. To find out just how many people he conquered and killed, to separate the myths from facts, we seek help with science.
