I compiled a list of heists I found interesting.

Most of them happened in the U.S., and they are like the stuff you see in heist movies.

Let’s start with number seven.

7. The Great Brink’s Robbery

Eleven men put on Halloween masks and carried 38 special revolvers. Their objective was to break into the security firm Brinks, Inc., in Boston, Massachusetts.

On the evening of January 17th, 1950, they quietly snuck inside Brinks and surprised the five workers who were still in the building. They forced them on the ground at gunpoint and taped their mouth shut.

Within 20 minutes, they collected $1.2 million in cash and $1.5 million in other valuables. That’s $36 million today.

The robbers had thought everything through because not a single piece of evidence was left behind. To top everything off, they managed to chop their escape vehicle into pieces at the local dump.

It was the biggest heist in the U.S. at the time. Newspapers labeled it the crime of the century.
