Keep warm this winter by sipping on these chocolatey concoctions.

If there’s one thing we love about winter (and trust us, there aren’t many), it’s that we can justify drinking hot chocolate almost every day. Setting out to find the richest, creamiest, most decadent takes on this childhood classic, we turned to our lovely Twitter followers to help us narrow down the search. Thanks to all your fabulous suggestions, we’re excited to present our picks for the five most delectable hot chocolates in the Big Apple!

Sweet Revenge — 62 Carmine St, Manhattan

This cozy, welcoming Soho eatery is one of our favorite places in the entire city. I mean, cupcakes paired with beer and wine? You can’t get much better than that! And when the winter weather rolls in, this place makes it all the more bearable with spiked classics like Irish Hot Chocolate. Sweet Revenge takes the (cup)cake for best adult twist on this youthful drink.

Max Brenner — 841 Broadway, Manhattan

Our list of the best hot chocolate wouldn’t be complete without including the restaurant mecca of chocolate. With eight different hot chocolate varieties to choose from, Max Brenner will be sure to satisfy even the most relentless sweet tooth. We recommend combining your cocoa indulgence with the restaurant’s yummy dessert pizza for an even more decadent dining experience.

The City Bakery — 3 W 18th St, Manhattan

You can’t go wrong grabbing a piping hot cup of cocoa here. The City Bakery’s hot chocolate is thick, creamy, and oh so chocolatey! Its decadent cocoa offerings are so popular that the bakery dedicates the entire month of February to hot chocolate, offering a different (and unique) flavor every day. If you’re not convinced yet, did we mention that the marshmallows are almost as big as the cup of cocoa they’re floating in?

Voilà Chocolat — 221 W 79 St, Manhattan

What’s better than a hot, steaming cup of cocoa to warm you up on a cold day? How about sipping that cocoa while making your own chocolate? This place offers more than just a yummy drink or bite to eat — it offers a fun, unique activity that’s great for the whole chocolate-loving family.

Serendipity 3–225 E 60 St, Manhattan

Undoubtedly one of the most famous dessert spots in the city, Serendipity has served the likes of Marilyn Monroe, Andy Warhol, and Jackie O, and has made appearances in Sex and the City and countless Hollywood movies. And yes, we know it’s not technically “hot” chocolate, but there’s a reason why Serendipity’s Frozen Hot Chocolate is such a highly sought-after treat. This place is always bustling, so we suggest making a reservation and preparing yourself for some crowds. We promise it’s worth it!
