We asked our Twitter followers where they like to chow down on the best ‘za in NYC. Here’s what they said.

Is there anything more delicious than a cheesy, saucy slice straight out of the oven? Yeah, we don’t think so either. For us, pizza is practically its own food group, and our Twitter followers seem to agree! We received an overwhelming response when we asked where we could find the best slice this side of the Mississippi, but we managed to narrow it down to these 5 unmissable New York joints.

1. Prince Street Pizza

Named one of the 33 best pizzerias in America by Thrillist, Prince Street Pizza is home to the famous Soho Square — a gooey, cheesy slice of Sicilian goodness. This pizza haven is a little pricier than your average dollar slice joint, but we think it’s definitely worth the extra dough. Prince Street prides itself on only using the freshest and finest ingredients available in their pizza — and you can taste the difference in the final product.

2. Sottocasa Pizzeria

In Italian, Sottocasa translates to a combination of the words “under” and “home,” and this pizzeria lives by its name, aiming to provide customers with an especially warm and friendly experience. We came for the pizza (which was delicious) but we stayed for the atmosphere. With its inviting artwork and gaggle of regulars, you can’t help but feel at home in this charming Williamsburg joint.

3. Joe’s

Established in 1975, Joe’s has long been known as an NYC must-visit for pizza lovers. Topping many “Best Pizza in NYC” lists (and even a best pizza in the world list from GQ) it is widely accepted that Joe’s is the cream of the crop when it comes to pizza. This classic Greenwich Village slice joint is no frills — so if you’re looking for fancy toppings or classy decor, this is not the place for you. But if you’re after an authentic, delicious slice of pie, Joe’s can’t be beat.

4. Pomodoro Ristorante and Pizzeria

Find yourself in Little Italy craving some pizza? Check out this humble eatery at the corner of Spring and Mulberry Streets. For all you sauce lovers out there, we highly recommend Pomodoro’s Vodka House Special Pizza. Another thing that makes this spot one of our go-tos? They’re the only pizza place in Little Italy that serves by the slice!

5. Rubirosa Ristorante

This list of cheesy deliciousness wouldn’t be complete without one of our personal favs. About a year ago, we joined forces with The Pizza Guy, Sean Taylor, and filmed our mouthwatering experience at Rubirosa in honor of National Pizza Month. Check out the video below for all the details on this slice of heaven in Nolita!
