Full House’s Jodie Sweetin on Addiction and Sobriety

Jodie Sweetin rose to fame playing Stephanie Tanner in Full House, a role she began when she was just five years old.

The show was a smash hit and stayed on the air for nearly a decade, making Sweetin one of the most famous child stars of the nineties.

Sadly, when Full House eventually ended in 1995, things began to go downhill for Sweetin. At age 14, she started drinking, and over the next decade and a half, she continued to struggle with drug and alcohol abuse.

Fortunately, though, that wasn’t the end of her story. In December 2008, Sweetin was able to get sober, and the next year she wrote a book about her experiences titled “UnSweetined.”

Although she experienced a brief relapse, she has now been consistently sober since 2011. Last year, Sweetin appeared on an episode of Steve-O’s Wild Ride. This podcast series, hosted by Jackass’s Steve-O, is a great listen, but definitely not safe for work. The podcast isn’t just about sobriety, but since Steve-O is sober himself, the conversation often veers into the subject of recovery.
