Hayden Panettiere has had an incredibly successful career as an actress. She began acting in the soap opera One Life to Live when she was just five years old, then reached international stardom in 2006 with her role as Claire Bennet (a.k.a. “the cheerleader”) in Heroes. She followed up that role by starring as Juliette Barnes in Nashville, for which she received two Golden Globe nominations.

On top of all of her acting roles, Panettiere has even worked as a model and singer. And, to add to that, she’s also the mother of a seven-year-old girl. Panettiere is just thirty-two years old, but she’s already experienced a lifetime of success.

However, Panettiere has also experienced more than her fair share of struggles. In a recent interview with People, the actress revealed that throughout her career she has battled depression and addiction to alcohol and opioids.

Panettiere on Addiction

This is the first time that Panettiere has ever revealed her struggle with addiction, and it’s interesting to hear how badly it was damaging her life — even as her career seemed to be doing fine.
