Hi everyone!

Welcome to the weekly update email from Exploring Sobriety. I hope you all had a great weekend! Today, I’d like to share with you four articles I recently wrote about addiction. Hopefully, they’ll help you through the week!

The first is Three Drinking Stories, which is from my weekly Substack newsletter. As I say in the article, “These aren’t your typical drinking stories. There are no exciting misadventures, run-ins with the law, or near misses. Instead, these are stories about the sad mundanity of alcoholism.”

By the way, the newsletter hit a cool milestone over the weekend: 300 subscribers. Thank you to everyone who has subscribed! I’m trying hard to make it the best newsletter I can write. I hope you’re finding it helpful and enjoying it.

If you haven’t subscribed to it yet, you can check it out here. If you’re a recovered alcoholic, or simply have an interest in addiction and recovery, this newsletter is for you.

The next article I’d like to share is 3 Alcoholism Warning Signs That I Missed. Before getting sober, I spent years debating with myself whether I had an addiction or not. After getting sober, I realized that there were enormous red flags that I was ignoring. You can read more here.

The last two articles I’d like to share are both about celebrities in recovery. As I’ve said before, these stories are a bit of a guilty pleasure for me. I don’t think it’s a good idea to idolize celebrities, but I do find it incredibly inspiring to hear about how someone can overcome addiction and go on to such huge success.

The first of these articles is Tracy Morgan’s Best Sobriety Advice. Tracy Morgan has been sober for two decades, and he’s got a lot of great thoughts on the topic. My personal favorite is about staying in the moment. Check out the article here.

The second celebrity article is ‘Stranger Things’ Actor Jamie Campbell Bower is Over 7 Years Sober. This is a quick post about how Bower and one of his Stranger Things co-stars both quit drinking at an early age.

That’s it for this email. Thank you very much for reading, and have a great week!

Thank you,
Benya
