Germans During World War I

This clipping talks about Missouri’s contribution to the war effort. Though it does not specifically mention the German-American contribution, it reflects some of the ideas that we discussed in class Tuesday. The idea in Gasconade County that the Germans did not like the invasion of the government in their daily lives is displayed clearly here with the pushing of purchasing war stamps to support the war effort. While these are not necessarily mandatory, in order to prove you were patriotic, you must purchase them.
