Perry County and the World’s Fair

Found in the Perry County Republican Vol. XV. Published on April 7, 1904

While I, unfortunately, could not find any writing from Perry County about the German exhibition, this article confirms many of the general conclusions made by Lutzeler and his students. The article details many revolutionary inventions from across the globe featured in the fair (in this case from the industrial sector. While not all new, the inventions represent the celebration of globalization and excitement around intellectual goods from other nations. This is exactly in line with our reading, which discusses how the World’s Fair emphasized the display and celebration of new ideas from a multitude of different cultures.
