Prohibition Article

This article aligns with some points brought up in the Ken Burns clip, which notes that many Germans, or people in rural areas, didn’t really view prohibition as a threat, simply because it would be difficult to enforce at a local level. At this point, it was only at the state level and wasn’t enforced at the federal level yet. The article notes that many high level legislators were confident that Prohibition wouldn’t be passed, because like it was described in the Ken Burns clip, many people underestimated the power of moral arguments for prohibition, and the widespread strength they could have. In the introduction to the nyt article, it notes the widespread power of prohibitionists, which was counter to what a lot of legislators thought would happen, especially based on the political power of alcohol manufacturers.
