RR Week 15

This “evidence” was found in the FBI Records: The Vault from the file German American Federation/Bund Part 11 of 11. https://vault.fbi.gov/german-american-bund/german-american-federation-bund-part-11-of-10/view

The first clipping and part of the second clipping state that a meeting was held on September 3, 1937, and attended by primarily German-American members of the German-American League who had previously attended the Stuttgart Rally in Germany. The rest of the second clipping recalls the members dressed in uniform (black pants, boots, belts, ties, and gray shirts) and how they greeted one another with the Nazi salute and said “Heil Hitler.” Speeches were given that praised the Third German Reich, denounced Judaism in the U.S., and opposed communism. Films of swastika propaganda were also shown during the meeting. The third clipping declared that one of the main goals of the Bund was to “extend the theories and policies of German National Socialism to the United States.” Overall this information is very similar to what we have read from Hart’s chapter in “The Bund.” This evidence further proves the Bund’s agenda and its effects on the U.S. I still believe that the Bund was a bigger threat to the U.S. than the FBI believed (given their agenda).
