The German-American Bund Presence in Missouri

This article is from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and was published on February 15, 1938. This article, which advocates for the disbanding of the German-American Bund outright, makes it clear that those in Missouri were aware of and worried about the activities in the Bund. The author specifically mentions being grateful that the Bund’s St. Louis regional conference was canceled due to Bund-associated riots that occurred in Buffalo, New York. The fact that there was going to be a regional conference for the Bund in St. Louis is proof that there were activist members of this organization in Missouri, as St. Louis is obviously part of Missouri. This article further reveals that the history of Nazi agitation was not well-received in Missouri. This is true even for German-Americans, of which and “overwhelming majority” opposed the Bund’s purpose and methods.
