Goodbye, 2020!
Hello, 2021!
Are you ready for 2021? I have never been so ready to leave the past year behind.
However, the problem with thinking we get a fresh start in a New Year is that we don’t get to drop off all of our problems at the door as we vacate 2020. We bring them with us, right into 2021.
And this is where New Year’s resolutions begin to fail. When you think you can create a brand new you in a brand new year. It’s just not how it works.
And this year, being the most stressful year in modern human history is different. Our resolutions, which are tough anyway to keep, should be different too. But, if we scale them down and make them attainable, we may find the key to success.
Creating healthy habits is not a sprint. It’s all about small positive changes that net more substantial changes over time.

- Did you know that mindful breathing is an easy and free way to improve your health? Learn all about it with Amelia Devall’s 6 Healthy Breathing Exercises for Anxiety and Depression.
- One thing I want this publication to be is a judgment-free zone. My journey to wellness is going to look different than yours, and wellbeing doesn’t mean perfection. David Mokotoff gives us some great reasons to not obsess over a perfect waistline in Maybe God Meant Us to Be Fat as We Age.
- And finally, a silver lining brought to us by 2020 is the realization that we need to focus on self-care. Have you tried gua sha stones? The practice comes from ancient China, and now it’s made it’s way to one of the top beauty trends in the US. Learn more about it with Julia Stier’s Gua Sha Stones (A new tool to add to your skincare routine)
Oh, and speaking of resolutions, one of mine is to be a tad more regular on the newsletter writing. Hmm, well, we’ll see how that goes.
Until next time…thanks for reading, and have a happy New Year!
