Inspiration

I went to Botanic garden’s to get some plant inspo!

To enhance the existing illustrations in Toto and the Magic Tree, I visited Botanic Gardens in Belfast to photograph some plants, trees and flowers to include in the book.

I wanted to get a sense of how plants are arranged and how light hits them in the natural world. The ferns on the left with the log and rocks underneath is the kind of setting I was looking for to use a reference.

Bamboo is a plant I hadn’t yet included in the book but I will add it to some of the scenes in the book.
