So today, instead of giving you valuable event advice, we want to start talking about our internal operations: how we work, what we do all day, and who makes up our team. Today, we’ll be discussing the latter!

We have 11 team members around the world — only three work out of our EXPOAid HQ in Bangor. From NY to LA, to the UK and beyond, we’re around! We’re going to be talking to Shay Punter, one of our developers out of the United Kingdom.

Me: So how long have you worked for EXPOAid?

Shay: I have been working at EXPOAid from around May 2018.

And I have been working in the development industry for around 3 years now, with many years to come!

Me: What’s a typical work day for you?

Shay: Well the typical work day here for me is very simple, often when I wake up, I’ll pop on and have a chat with our other awesome team members, then off to planning what needs to be done for the day. Once planning is finished, I get a good cup of tea and talk about EXPOAid’s future with the team and the founder, Nathan. Afterwards, its all hands on, creating websites, fun small projects on the side, and being told off by Nathan for not creating posts for the blog 😉. I build websites (mostly) for EXPOAid, which is great fun, often collaborating with our other developers.

Me: What are your skills and interests outside of work?

Shay: Skills and interests, hmmm. I have a lot of interests, the main ones being gaming, development, and interacting with new people. Oh! I can’t forget, I love to try out new things! My skills are more or less the same as work, I work on quirky personal projects that generally aren’t helpful to anyone (including me), although I do get a thrill from them. I also love personal development, you’ll often find me reading in the morning!

Me: With the EXPOAid Keynote coming up, everyone is a bit stressed. How do you handle stress?

Shay: For me, the best way I have handled stress is to just take a 5 minute break, sit with a cuppa tea and some biscuits or go for a small walk around the village.

Me: What’s one thing you can’t live without?

Shay: Books, I simply wouldn’t be able to gain as much knowledge as I have now without the books I have read!

Me: Who’s one person you’d like to meet in your lifetime (other than Joe Polish, that goes without saying)?

Shay: Dan Lok, he is someone who inspires me daily, it would be amazing to sit with him, see how he runs his businesses and have a chat with my lord and savior

Me: You’re responsible for interviewing our next person! Who will you pick and why?

Shay: Louis (our legal aide), you’re the next target for the interview! I find you quite interesting and to be full of surprises.
