“Conspiracies mix facts with fabricated claims and build on stereotypical images of the enemy.”

Your subtitle for this article is the most succinct statement that I have ever read defining conspiracies. It bears repeating.

It’s a quote-worthy re-quote that is AMEN-worthy!

I don’t know this for a fact but I have always thought or “believed” there are only two reasons why conspiracy theories are developed.

  • The person who came up with the conspiracy desperately wanted an answer and since nobody was giving them the answer they alleviated their anxiety and fear by making one up!
  • The person who came up with the conspiracy is malicious, cruel, and foul and enjoys being a manipulative jerk. The more people they can convince, convert, confuse, and frighten, the more conspiracies they invent. It gives them a feeling of power. Yes! Come to me you ignorant fools! I have the answers.

It’s either one or the other. The person is innocent, ignorant and scared OR the person is a manipulator and a power-monger, preying on the innocent, the ignorant and the fearful.

What other reasons could there be?

APOLOGIES TO THE READERS: The quote was extracted from an informative article which the writer decided to remove. These comments were written in response to that article. Even though the article is no longer published, these statements will remain on my public writing record, as I believe a discussion of the topic of conspiracy theories is extremely relevant to “our world”. Don’t you think so? I give full credit to the article writer for his/her inspiration. Thank You!
