Excellent article. I would like to share these thoughts, if I may.
There used to be a British Empire. But it is no more. It went the way of all of the other empires. Why do they all go the same way? Because of the stupidity of believing that there are superior beings and inferior beings. The so-called superior beings foolishly believe that because they are the ones who conquered and took control of the land, then the beings who inhabited that location are inferior because they could not fight back and save themselves, Roughly translated, that means they mistakenly believe they have “POWER” to DISREGARD YOUR HUMAN RIGHTS and STEP ON YOU!
I have always thought that the history of the United States of America would read completely different, if instead of warring with the Native Americans and taking the land they lived on … why not greet and meet with them and share knowledge, things, etc. that would benefit EVERYBODY!
But the reality is, there are those who never want to follow the path to peace. When they arrive, it is their cruel, ruthless, and malicious intent to TAKE OVER!
Sometimes it's not even an outsider or a foreign invader. Some civilizations or communities establish laws and rules that were/are built on UNEQUAL TREATMENT.
( I watch a lot of historical Korean dramas. The nobleman / scholar / commoner / slave is an example of inequality.)
The story of India is not much different from the story of many other nations. The names of the people may be different. The locations may be in different parts of the world. But the general story-line is the same.
It all boils down to the attitude and behavior of human beings believing themselves to be superior to other human beings. The history books are written by those who believe they are superior, and so they get to tell the story from their point of view.
Here's the kicker. Just because they wrote it, you can read it; but you don't have to believe it. My teachers taught me many things and I got As and Bs in my classes. I learned enough to pass the tests. My teachers could not teach me what to believe. They could make suggestions. But I made the decision regarding my beliefs on my own. That's what every human being should do. No matter what part of the world they live in.
Of course, I realize there is always the possibility of being persecuted and oppressed and even killed by the "POWER". But your mind, body, and soul is the all that you have. Everyone has the RIGHT to THINK FREELY and WRITE THEIR OWN "story".
