I am amazed by polyglots, speaking, and switching between languages. When it comes to language study, I struggle. But this does not stop me from trying.
I grew up in the Caribbean — Barbados, with English as my first language. And was required to do some language study in secondary school. But I’m no polyglot. I wish.
However, if just for a minute, I could express myself in multiple languages, these would be the few.
Spanish
As with any good secondary education, there was language study at school. Five years of unsuccessfully studying Spanish. I really wish I could carry a conversation in Spanish but I can't.
French
