Dates for commission and workshop submissions, along with production launch
Fri 1st December: Film submissions to the West End Film Festival open. Filmmakers indicate in the submission if they’re interested in having them film included in these commissions. See the WEFF submission page.
Thurs 15th Feb: Lab & Commission applications open. Applications open to WEFF filmmakers who did not submit to the Commission; as well as local and interstate filmmakers, game developers, theatre makers, novelists, interactive creators, producers, directors, and beyond. Individuals and teams welcome to apply. (Note: unsuccessful commission applications will automatically be considered for the workshop.)
Thurs 1st March: Feature film entries close.
Sun 1st April: Short film entries close.
Sun 15th April: Workshop & Commission applications close.
Mon 30th April: Short film finalists announced, including which films have been selected for the Extended Experience Commissions. Unsuccessful commission submissions from filmmakers and creative teams, will still be eligible for the workshop.
Sat 19th & Sun 20th May: Extended Experiences Lab. Held in at Griffith Film School. Filmmakers, creative teams, and other independents creatives engage in a two-day workshop in which their existing projects will be developed for effective extension. More information about the Lab on this page.
1 week before: Extended Experiences begin for public. Ticket-holders for the WEFF will be notified and offered the chance to opt-in to the extended experiences created during this lab!
23rd & 24th June: West End Film Festival. Pre- and Post-Experiences for public. A special Q&A on Sunday.
