Hockey is most widely regarded as a women’s sport in the UK and many countries across the world agree; that being said in countries like India, it is very much a men’s sport.

Whether male or female though, hockey is a fast and furious sport: The goalies don’t wear all those pads for nothing! So grab your gum shield and shin pads and why not get involved.

Reading Hockey Club

Teams for men, women and children of varying ages and with several annual membership packages starting at £70 for under 6s, through to £100 student membership, to £210 full adult membership. The club holds open weekends at the beginning of the season with display games, drills and an introduction for potential new members.

Lincoln Hockey Club

Men, women, children and veterans can all find a place in a team at this club. Children aged between 5–16 can learn all there is to know and then join adult teams. There is also a large social programme associated with the club for fun on and off the pitch.

Worcester Hockey Club

Founded in 1892 as a men’s club, in 1972 the club merged with Worcester Women and now there are 13 teams for men, women and children. The club is extremely proud of its rich history so if you are looking for the traditional game this is the club for you – although they now play on the most modern artificial surfaces.

This men’s club is nearly 50 years old. There are over 100 men playing hockey here in the West End of Glasgow. With women’s and junior branches having their own websites:
