Call The Question

I am sure by now you’ve read some of the coverage from President Trump’s bizarre and compromising press conference after his unnecessary summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Helsinki, Finland. I think it is time to call the question…What if the president of the United States is compromised and beholden to a foreign power.

Not Normal

I have received many comments over the past year from President Trump defenders arguing that Trump is simply an unconventional president. His defenders like to make excuses for his bizarre behavior and erratic communication style by suggesting that he is unrestrained and therefore freer. What if he is not free at all? What if he is being blackmailed? I think it is time to reassess the situation. I think it is time to call the question, what if the president of the United States is compromised and beholden to a foreign power? I have written about the Ineptness of President Donald Trump and the danger he presents to the Republic and the international order as we know it. I have written that a presidential pivot will never arrive. I have called for an ex-presidential intervention. I have tried to describe President Trump’s dystopian disposition. I have repeatedly suggested that we must start believing the things he says and examining his actions.

I have written about how President Trump oversells and underperforms and how his Administration continues to dishonor to the Office of the Presidency. I have criticized President Trump’s Maria moment, his ritual of “thoughts and prayers,” his complete inability to tell the truth, his failure to uphold his most basic duty as Commander-in-Chief, and the perpetual and deep-seated damage he is doing to the Grand Old Party and the United States of America. I was wrong. All of those critiques were only addressing symptoms of something that is much more serious. What if the president of the United States is compromised? What if a foreign power is actively blackmailing the Commander-in-Chief? I think it is time to call the question.

Call The Question

Arizona Senator John McCain issued the following statement, “today’s press conference in Helsinki was one of the most disgraceful performances by an American president in memory.” Senator McCain is correct. The Helsinki performance from President Trump was bizarre and baffling. I think it is time for the American people to stand up and demand that Congress use its powers to check our compromised president. We have moved beyond performance art and the idiosyncrasies of a 71-year-old reality-tv star turned president of the United States. I believe that the president of the United States is spiraling out of control and may not have the mental fortitude or cognitive ability recognize that he is being used undermine American primacy by a hostile foreign power. Or worse, he does recognize that and is engaging in the biggest conspiracy against the United States in a generation.

Compromised President

It is imperative that we protect the republic. President Donald J. Trump is a clear and present danger to the United States and the global order and it is time for us to make some tough decisions. We must begin exploring the circumstance in which it is determined that the president of the United States is compromised, either unwillingly or as a co-conspirator. I think we must begin to explore potential strategies to mitigate harmful national security and global order outcomes from the President’s bizarre decisions. I think it is time to explore impeachment or 25th Amendment remedies. We must remember that the office of the President is much bigger than any one individual. We must call the question. Is the President of the United States compromised? Is the president of the United States acting in the best interests of the United States? Is the president of the United States an unwitting participant in an ongoing campaign to undermine American primacy? We must call the question.
