if I don’t answer the phone
or send meaningless texts
if I don’t update my Facebook status
with the lie I tell myself today
do I still exist
if don’t fill my calendar
with play dates and cocktail hours
if all I seem to muster
are empty promises and feigned interest
do I still exist
when you don’t ask the question
but infer the answer anyway
will I still exist
when I stop living for you
and live for me instead?
