If you need more proof that the only thing worse than our president is our vice president, here you go.

After having the audacity to go to a forum on empowering women when he has a record for leading the fight against reproductive rights (http://www.politico.com/story/2011/02/pences-war-on-planned-parenthood-049609?utm_source=huffingtonpost.com&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=pubexchange_article), the next day he decided to break a tied vote on allowing states to defund Planned Parenthood.

Let’s keep in mind what Planned Parenthood’s favorability ratings are.

It doesn’t actually make a lot of sense for these representatives to be doing this, since Planned Parenthood has an almost 60% favorability rating, even higher than ObamaCare. But they had arguments for their votes. Really stupid arguments. They claim that they want abortion rates to go down, and that by defunding Planned Parenthood, and in the end making abortions illegal, that abortion rates will go down as a result. Plenty of evidence has shown that making abortions illegal changes nothing in the abortion rate, and that what ends up happening is that more women die trying to have an abortion instead of having a professional do it.

What makes abortion rates go down is the very things Planned Parenthood provides, STD testing and treatment, family planning, contraception, and more things that make abortion rates go down.

What this tells me is that the congresspeople that voted for this didn’t care about abortion rates going down, that their real intention was something else, possibly to make women have less rights and power in relationships, or to make poor people have no more access to services they might desperately need.

Unfortunately, that’s exactly what will happen in Alabama, Kentucky, and the rest of the southern states that will now have the power to cut funding for Planned Parenthood, thanks to Mike Pence. I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again; brace for impact.
