Protest And Survive ¹

So … this Extinction Rebellion thing has caused a bit of a stir, hasn’t it?

People complaining about how the protesters are just trustafarians selfishly making people’s lives harder by making them late for work or whatnot.

And it got me thinking.

Periodically, in the U.K., the workers’ unions threaten/engage in industrial action.

The Media/Press/’man down the pub’ rail about how unreasonable it is of people to want to earn a decent income for the hours they put in and simpletons across the nation join in with sour grape squeals of indignation.²

Never is this more apparent than when the London Underground workers’ union does this.

But no-one in favour of free-market Capitalism has any valid argument against a Tube strike. Labour is a commodity and those offering it for sale are marketing it at whatever price the Market will bear.

You’re not obliged to use the Tube and, if you don’t like the price, don’t buy the product.

Get a train, get a bus, get a taxi, buy a car, a motorcycle, a bicycle, a skateboard, walk, move closer to your place of employment or get a different job.

The rest of us don’t care whether you live or die, quite frankly, and are sick of your pitiful whining about how it’s ‘not fair’.

Life isn’t fair and it owes you nothing.

So, suck it up, buttercups, this is what you voted for — non-interventionist laissez faire free-market Capitalism ³.

² Which is odd really … because, instead of questioning why someone else should be paid more, the rational thing to do would be to question why they aren’t paid more themselves.

³ Ain’t karma a bitch?

There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live and too rare to die.
