What do we do when the President of the United States of America is a habitual liar? It has become clear that President Donald J. Trump is incapable of making a completely factual statement or having an honest moment. He is incapable of telling the truth. He is so self-absorbed that he lacks the self-awareness required to tactfully execute the most basic duties of the office of President of the United States.

President Trump began his presidency by lying about the size of inauguration and he has not stop lying since he took the oath of office swearing to protect and defend the constitution. In fact, President Trump told a lie or falsehood every day for the first 40 days of his Presidency, according to the New York Times and other fact-checking organizations. Every single day, the President and his spokespeople and surrogates go out and directly mislead the American people. When they are not misleading the American people they are willfully lying to American people and we should ask ourselves how much more of this we should take.

President Trump is a liar and is categorically unfit to serve as President of the United States and Commander-in-Chief of America’s Armed Forces. President Donald Trump is exhausting. The Trump administration has yet to find its governing balance because the man who occupies the Oval Office is constantly overselling every position he takes and is constantly finding himself on all sides of any particular issue. When he does take a position he regularly and routinely lies about the progress being made or the agenda item being accomplished.

We know the President lacks a command of the details because he insists on working off the cuff. This lack of preparedness and the inability to actually consume briefed information leads the President to regularly engaging in misinformation campaigns. During the 2016 Presidential Campaign, Trump supportors stated that they took him seriously but not literally. Well, guess what? President Trump is President of the United States and needs to be taken seriously and literally. We already know that President Trump will never make the presidential pivot but that doesn’t mean that we need to simply accept being lied to on a regular and routine basis. Enough is enough.

We know that the Fabricator-in-Chief will never fully take responsibility for anything but he has honestly reached a point of no return. The President in all of his bombast and vibrato reached a truly low point in is very short presidency, when he suggested that previous president never made calls the families of military members who gave the ultimate sacrifice on behalf of a grateful nation. The indignity of President Trump storytelling has hit critical mass. For nearly two weeks, the President has commented on and lied about two or three dozen events including the NFL, who should be fired at ESPN, his relationship with his own cabinet officials, and the status of post-Maria Puerto Rico but he seemingly was not interested in making remarks about Special Forces soldiers killed in an ambush in Niger. When he did he spokes in generalities because it was clear he didn’t know the facts of the situation. The ease at which the President lies is a cause for concern. He lies about things that are easily verifiable. He lies about the trivial and mundane. He lies about the extraordinary and complex. The President lies about everything. Where is Congressman Joe “You Lie” Wilson now when you need him?

President Trump is grossly underperforming in every presidential measurement standard. His approval rating is in free fall and he has yet to accomplish anything meaningful in Washington. This is in part because there is not a day that passes that the President doesn’t make some type of false statement, mistruth, alternative fact, or an outright lie. President Trump’s inability to tell the truth is a direct threat to the Republic and we should all be very concerned with what is happening in this era. Every day, the President of the United States lies and in the same breath rallies against “fake news” and his critics. He does all of this because deep down he knows that he is a failure. He knows that he is categorically unfit for the job of President. He knows that in short order his most loyal supporters will recognize that he is a fraud. He knows that the American people will not discover that America has been made great again, but that America has been fundamentally made worse.

President Trump lies because for most of his adult life no one has told him to stop lying, even when he admits guilt or settles out of court or is caught on tape. The President of the United States is a liar and lies with impunity and we must end this madness. Mr. President, I know you recently lied to the faithful at the Values Voters Summit, well I think you should read John 8:32 because the truth shall set you free!
