A gathering of the Lobby Of Some Erics ( with 2 Ericas who were invited as guest speakers).

The following statement was released earlier today by the Lobby Of Some Erics:

Today we, the people of LOSEr (Lobby Of Some Erics) have come together to fight the disparaging public image we have to contend with in a heated political climate where one of our own keeps publicly broadcasting bigoted, irrational and astonishingly stupid remarks on a very regular basis. The son of the President Of The United States is in a position to raise the profile of Erics. He could have been the standard-bearer of all that is beautiful and honorable about Erics. He could have been an example to little Erics everywhere, someone to look up to when they’re lost, when they are figuring out the world and developing their Eric-ness at the same time (this can be tremendously overwhelming, as we all know). Instead he is dragging our good name through the mud.

As Erics, we find ourselves at a loss on what to do. We’re fathers, husbands, brothers, sons, lovers, fighters, rogues and accountants. We’re cis, trans, short, tall, funny and sweet. We’re generally good at baseball, but for some reason a solid majority of us are pretty bad at water sports. Some of us cried with Season 3 of Grey’s Anatomy. Some of us only cried during season 2. Others will never admit to crying during Grey’s Anatomy at all (Eric R., we’re looking at you). Most Erics are homebodies, but many Erics have traveled, some as far as to Saint Petersburg. As you can see, Erics are many things, but above all we’re Erics.

Yet nowadays, we no longer feel as if we can comfortably live out that part of our identity. How does one be an Eric without being complicit in something truly terrible? Can one be an Eric and NOT want to strip healthcare away from 23 million people? Can one be an Eric and NOT try to raise taxes for 50% of Americans to give a handful of rich people more money? Can one be an Eric and NOT hate immigrants while bringing more of them in to work in their winery?

We say yes. One can.

That is why we’ve today decided to launch #NotAllErics. We hope this hashtag will trend and raise awareness to the fact that not all Erics are Eric Trump. Erics can be brought out of the long shadow cast by Mr. Trump 2.0 and be a force for good.

We don’t have to be Eric Trump. We will not be.
