The Republican Party is Messed Up

Let the record state that both sides are not the same and “Horeshoe Theory” is a lie. That is a major false equivalency. And it is always easier for centrists or even moderates to often equate both sides so as to alway reaffirm their choice in their centrist idealogical stance. But as we see with the current headlines making the rounds in the news, we know for fact these sides are nowhere near the same at all. Between Donald Trump trying to rescind DACA, to Republicans response to the Las Vegas Shooting, to the Republicans still working hard to get rid of the Affordable Care Act, the Republicans of today are not in the cool spot you expect the majority party to be in. There have been some serious missteps, and even the most conservative among must have had the thought of, “What is really happening and how do we fix?”.
There is still a major federal investigation into Russia meddling in the election last year, and new concerning details — concerning travel arrangements specifically — have been made public regarding the people who are part of Trump’s Cabinet. Right now there is no shortage of controversy, and the “Republican Fatigue” is real. It seems every week there is a new controversial statement made by our President or someone in his orbit or a reversal of an Obama era rule.
None of this is particularly helpful to the people they are supposed to effectively govern. So why are Republicans continually doing things that are unpopular or seem to be wrong by the most casual of observer? Is it because they are that out of touch, or is it a matter of doing whatever they want — specifically dismantling Obamas legacy — or maybe a little of both? In the end all we are left with is our own thought process as to the “why”.
How many more times are we going to be reminded that Donald Trump needs to be treated like a kid and have his internet privileges revoked? Or needed to be reminded that someone in his cabinet is doing something less than helpful? Why is is that we even have to ask these questions when it comes to Republican Party?
It is concerning and does not bode well for the future of the party. It was made clear with more of a loose cannon in the White House, Republicans were going to have some friction, but after over 200 days in the White House and no major legislation passed by the Republican lead Congress and the continued actions that only draw rebuke not praise towards the party, the only conclusion the people who are governed can rightfully come to is that simply, there is something seriously wrong with the Republican Party, and we don’t know how to fix it.
