Why Donald Trump became President ?
For the past couple of months, I have read countless of articles about Donald Trump and how it became possible for him to become President of the United States. I heard a lot of different explanations : the white vote, the Obamacare…
But most people were only interested about the HOW ? Not the WHY. As interesting as it may be, looking at the HOW will maybe teach you a few lessons about how to become President. You will however not understand the man and his true motivations.
Of course, he is jealous of people making a fortune in tech, making ten times his fortune in half the time. If he can manage to break them, it will be beneficial to him. But that’s not why you put yourself and your business at risk.
First of all, we have to agree that Donald Trump did not become President for the greater good. He does not care at all if people get richer, safer or whatever. He cares about only one thing : business and how to make more/better business.
His strategy over the years has always been to build the Trump brand. The Trump Tower, the Trump steaks, the Trump water… He wants his name to become a brand. And as famous as he may be, his business has always been mainly in the United States.
Donald Trump became President to turn his name into a global brand.
Basically, he was stuck in the US and though he was popular and well known throughout the country, I am not sure many English, Nigerian or whatever knew his name. He did not have the right connections abroad to make business at the right level. Let me explain. Why did Donald Trump own golf courses ? Because that’s where business is made. If you own a golf course, you can basically meet any people who visit in the most favorable condition. Assume you own a lot of high quality ones, you can basically meet any important businessman in the US. Does it scale abroad ? No. Where is the business nowadays ? Abroad or in tech.
Now at the international level, where is the best business made ? When you travel with the president… And if you are the president, you can choose who travels with you, putting yourself in the position of offering some business to your favorites in your own country as well as meet the right person abroad. An ideal position.
After you are president, everyone around the world will agree to meet you… By becoming president, Donald actually made it in the history books and expanded his companies horizons immediately. When the next generation of Trump, his daughter Ivanka, travels with him, it has the only purpose of connecting with the top level executives around the world.
The Trump business is a family business. The children must not only inherit the money but also the connection. When Trump got his first million dollar from his father, he also had a name to open the right doors among the New-York elite. Donald Trump therefore knows that knowing the right person will offer you the best deals.
Finally, he now has a daily worldwide audience and for the rest of his life. If he launches any product or show or whatever, the whole world will instantly know. And he has a core of faithful people who strongly support him and associate the name of Trump with positive stuff. What will he sell them ? Media, steaks, wigs, phones ? It does not matter, the opportunity now exists.
The Trump brand is expanding worldwide.
