The flight from Seoul to Hong Kong was delayed a bit due to some delays getting from Hongdae to Incheon Airport.

I woke up late for my flight from Korea to Hong Kong. -_-
The cab ride was fun; The cab driver’s GPS was smart enough to alert him when there were bumps and delays on the road. This cab service was professional without a lot of effort. I feel like back home in the States, city-managed car services lack in the most important— yet simple— amenities that would improve both cost and service.

Touching down in Hong Kong, I immediately had a spontaneous feeling of “western-ness”. In fact, the first thing I did after passing through customs was go to the nearest Mc Donalds and order the newly added chicken wings, and fries and a coke. It wasn’t that I was not enjoying the local cuisine, it was more of me scratching an itch for something familiar. Breaking the pattern of going for quick processed meals is something I’ve been able to do over the past year, but arriving in Hong Kong was…well…when in Rome.

Leaving the Hong Kong airport on the high-speed line to the main islands, I immediately felt the energy of the city come alive. It was the dark of night, and it felt like I was just rising to a new day. The town was lively and energetic, and I quickly settled into my quarters and explored the area. I was comforted by the branding of english characters on many of the signs, helping me find my way through the endless winding roads on the Kowloon Peninsula.

Lovely warm day at the hotel in Hong Kong Kowloon Area.
