What does Exygy mean?

To our team, it means Digital Craftsmanship. It means using our technical expertise — human centered design, agile software development, and modern product approaches — to build healthy and resilient communities.

We believe communities thrive when they have strong social systems and resources to support families and individuals in their day-to-day lives. Technology and design have critical roles to play in ensuring these systems are effective and communities are empowering every person to succeed. That’s why our work has focused on improving access to affordable housing, preventing pandemics, creating clean energy & environments, and having access to high quality childcare and education.

Over the course of the next few months, our team will be sharing more about our unique approach to developing world class digital products that serve communities. We want to start by sharing our the values we bring to every project.

Digital Craftsmanship Values:

  • Lean, iterative approach to product development, so we don’t over-invest in the wrong solutions. We start small, test with users often, and layer features on as we go. Going lean and iterative can’t mean rushing to solutions — rather, it requires taking time to craft beautiful, flexible solutions, piece-by-piece, that can flex as our understanding of the problem evolves.
  • Design for inclusion, co-creating solutions with people and communities who need them most. Designing for inclusion requires insisting on tailored solutions grounded in deep user empathy. Designing with users not for users.
  • Ensure highly functional products that are delightful to users. Being a craftsperson is caring about the inherent qualities of the thing you are making. This means creating a custom product that evokes joy and meets users where they are.
  • Driven by order, logic, and process. Our engineers ensure the results of our craft are custom, precise, and special — not one size fits all, and not commodities.

Our series on Digital Craftsmanship for Healthy and Resilient Communities will be useful for anyone trying to craft digital solutions to human problems.

We will cover topics across our expertise including Design Sprints, Agile Management and Coaching, Interface Audits, Technical Audits, User Research Sprints, Human-Centered Design Trainings, Recruiting and Interview Development, User Analytics Reporting, Experience Design, Website and Application Development, and Systems Integrations.
