There are times in business when you hit a plateau. When you realise you’ve been doing the same thing for such a long time that it’s not giving you anymore satisfaction. And that’s alright. We’ve all been there. We’ve all struggled with it, you get anxious, lose patience, revolve your life around your work, become impatient, and pretty much lose all interest. That’s the moment when you have to become aware of your situation and either question if this is the road you want to continue walking on, or make a change. Either change your business, or most importantly, the way you look at your business.

We’ve asked a couple of our clients what was their secret to long lasting joy and dedication in business, and apparently enthusiasm is the key. Have a look at what keeps our clients excited to go to work and how they overcome everyday pitfalls:

1. Separate personal life from work — regardless of how big the project is, and how fast the business is growing, your work should not interfere with your personal life. Your time off should be your time off, either to recharge batteries or to purely enjoy your friends and family. It’s what keeps you sane, it gives you something to look forward to. It’s healthy.

2. Delegate parts of your business — business owners and entrepreneurs are usually busy with doing nothing. Emails piling up, proposals, chasing clients, managing, it’s all part of the business and somebody’s got to do it. And that someone shouldn’t be you. Delegating work, is the secret to running business flawlessly and with less headaches.

3. Innovate — you’ve been doing your business for quite a while, so you know your industry inside out. You know what’s out there, you know what the demand is, you know what you should be doing. So just do it. Entrepreneurs mustn’t be putting innovation off, it’s what they thrill on, and what keeps them in the game as well.

4. Get advice — whether it’s from a mentor, or a colleague, or your mum. Sometimes even bad advice trigger ideas, and can shed some light to what needs to happen next. So don’t thinking asking for guidance is a sign of weakness, is all part of the business game.
