Is your business sustainable?

Having a sustainable business is not a trendy thing anymore. It’s a necessity. It’s a misconception that only production companies can “go green” and beware of the carbon footprint and materials used. Any business can have a sustainable approach and it can be applied to either the global or local environment, community, society or economy.

Running a sustainable business, means you’re not in the game only for the profits. You want to make a change for the better, for the world that you and your family live in.

A sustainable business is an organization that is involved in environmentally friendly or green activities to ensure that all processes, products, and manufacturing sit in line with the current environmental and social concerns, while still making profit. It addresses the matter of using renewable resources, creating work forces, helping the local industries grow, and ultimately participating in the community.

It’s basically how businesses operated back in the day, with the added benefit of modern technology and information that we now have access to. It’s a combination of all the 4Rs: reduction, reuse, recycling and recovery. However those apply to your business and how you give back to the community is down for you to decide, be it new markets, new industries, or new jobs.

So take a minute to reflect if your business meets the environmental and social standards and ask yourself whether you want to be part of the shift that helps the world get an ever better place. Raise awareness about the issues we are currently being confronted with, take action, invest your time and resources in providing recommendations or solutions, regardless of whether you’re an investor, banker, technology and infrastructure developer, consultant or engineer.
