How do you keep motivated to push yourself to go that extra mile? Keep being curious, keep doing your thing with same enthusiasm and then some?

There’s no real recipe to keeping the momentum going, other than being able to see the results of your work paying back for all the effort. However, we often find ourselves in a blind spot, where regardless of how well things are going, we’re still struggling to find resources and inspiration to perpetuate the cycle and keep being awesome.

That is usually a point we reach when we’re either very bored with our activities, or we’ve exhausted all ideas to such an extent that it seems nearly impossible to come up with something innovative and exciting. So, what is there to do in that situation?

1. Reach out to friends and colleagues

Are you out of inspiration? Need a different perspective on things? You would be surprised how much a fresh pair of eyes can do for your workload. Even if you don’t receive the best of advice, sometimes the wrong opinion will make you think of things from a different angle and will get that brain wheel work in a different direction. Asking for help is a noble thing to do, we all get stuck, there’s no shame in asking someone else’s opinion on things.

2. Read/watch something else

Point your attention towards something that is completely unrelated to your business. Be it gossip magazines, recipe books, news from around the world. After you disconnect from your industry and get informed of other matters in the world, you will easily be able to adapt that piece of information to what you need to do. Or not, but at least you learned something new for the day, right?!

3. Write down your plan

We know we’ve mentioned this before, but we cannot stress enough how important actually sitting down and writing is. It appears that the word “to spell’ has roots in the actual meaning of putting a spell over something, and the power of you writing down on a piece of paper what you want to do, to represent, to happen in your life, gives you focus and clarity on what to do next. Rumour has it, writing does wonders…!

4. Ask someone else to do it

Are you just tired of it? Fair enough… However, they say your life is someone else’s dream so we assure you there will always be someone else who would love to be in your shoes and do whatever you’re doing. So just ask the question, outsource it, giving it all away if you must, and see what they can do with it. But whatever you do, make sure you don’t let your project die. Old projects are there to remind you of the time and energy you’ve invested, and it’s either you’re going to deal with it at a later stage, or develop something better in the future, but whatever the outcome, old passions are always a kind reminder of you out-growing and evolving towards something higher.
