Offshore communications with Zoom, Skype and Hangouts

Here at Ezy VA our clients come from all over the world. Being a company that has been set up in Australia, but that currently operates in the Philippines, it’s fair to say we’re a global company that needs to use all the necessary tools to ensure the remote work that we do is effective and executed correctly.

For this reason and more we use a range of smart tools meant to make our lives easier, which we will detail below.

Zoom

We’ve covered Zoom before in our tool article here, and we wanted to bring it to your attention again as it’s truly a lifesaver. It offers you the possibility of scheduling meeting rooms, records each of your meeting, it syncs easily with any device you might be using, and has an interface for chat as well. Easy for setting group meetings as well, simply by providing the meeting link. Friendly with different timezones, the beauty of Zoom lies in syncing your video meetings with your calendar, according to your location.

Skype

Although for Skype is obvious a game changer in the world of remote work, it’s not entirely recognised for its benefits and features. Easy to manage and use, Skype has pretty much the same features as Zoom, except it’s easier to access, doesn’t require ‘creating’ a meeting, you can easily transfer docs across and open up conference windows for as many users as you want. Through its credit feature you can also call abroad for almost nothing, making roaming and international calls be less of a problem as long as you have internet connection.

Hangouts

Quickly becoming the new iMessage for Android users, Hangouts is becoming very popular amongst all the Gmail users, regardless whether they’re Apple or Android. Synced with Google, Hangouts works automatically via Gmail through either desktop or mobile platforms so it’s super easy to access, and doesn’t require adding any contacts in a friend’s list as it automatically recognizes email contacts used previously on the Gmail. It allows up to 25 people to jump on one call for up to 2.5hrs and works pretty flawlessly.

So the options are there for you to decide what works better for you. The choice is yours.
