A Meme Guide By F1 Fantasy 2021's Richest Player

We see a lot of people asking how to make money in game, thankfully our resident billionaire @Fat Ham🍔 is here to help. He was ranked the richest player in all of the official F1 Fantasy game last year with the highest budget team, so he knows a thing or two about making those racks. He’s been amazing and has produced a guide for you all to use to follow in his wealthy footsteps! Make sure to join our Discord: https://discord.gg/Jrwyw9bKGm

A lot of important price information can be found on our website — https://www.f1fantasytracker.com/ where you’ll be able to see driver and constructor season start prices, current prices and price changes!

So let’s get started, written by the man himself, here’s…

Fat Ham’s Meme Guide to earning Fat Stacks in F1 Fantasy

“Cash Is King” — Lewis Hamilton, 2020

Last year I ended the season with the richest team of $116.7m, taking over the crown from the legend @Redacted, the previous cash king. Special mention to @cancrone, the yin to my yang, who reached the lowest budget of $84.6m.

You start the season with a budget of $100m, but you can make this grow very fast indeed! Drivers and constructors are assets which rise and fall in value, and you can use your substitutions between races to bank price rises and increase your total budget. However, you only get 3 free substitutions between each race so there’s a compromise between choosing the optimal team and gaining value. The next 3 substitutions cost you 10 points each so they’re almost never worth it, except in cash building teams (more on that later). You get 2 wildcards, one in each half of the season, which when activated give you 12 free substitutions for the next race.

Sentiment shows how close an asset is to rising or falling and is directly correlated with how many people own it. The precise maths would be better explained by our legendary analysts! The sentiment value updates roughly every 30 minutes. Assets with low total ownership rise and fall faster than those with high ownership. Assets with ownership above 40% rarely move by more than $0.1m between races. If a low ownership driver performs well in practice or the race, they can rise to the moon!

Fat Ham’s Top 10 Tips:

1. Utilise the brilliant tools and channels provided by this community including the sentiment tracker and discord. When something is posted to #pump-coordination channel, always follow the advice! Also check qualifying start times on the fantasy site or When is F1 On so you never miss the deadline for team picks. Sprint weekends often catch people out because the deadline is on Friday.

2. Dedicate one or two teams to cash building, then deploy them in late-season mini leagues. Don’t be afraid of taking -30 substitution penalties, as you can completely ignore points on these teams until a chosen mini-league begins. Try and have spare cash on your money teams, so you can bring in expensive assets with just one substitution. This isn’t always possible if the rising assets use most of your budget.

3. Wait for FP3 is the golden rule in this community, and for good reason. The gap between FP3 and qualifying has the most price movements, so you can utilise your substitutions for maximum effect. This is especially important for your main team, where you should never exceed 3 substitutions unless there’s going to be a huge cash benefit ($0.5m+ per sub).

4. Use your wildcards as early as possible, because the biggest price movements always happen between races 1 and 2. Any cash advantage you build at the start will remain for the entire season and the market is a lot less volatile near the end of the season.

5. Swap in the fastest rising assets for the fastest falling ones. If an asset is rising fast, don’t wait for it to hit a certain sentiment because you could miss out on the price increase. Don’t pay too much attention to very small sentiment changes. Any change of 5 sentiment or less could be background noise implemented by PlayOn to make the market appear more active than it actually is.

6. The prices and sentiments on the fantasy site don’t update in real time so be sure to refresh/reopen the page before making substitutions

7. Pay close attention to when streaks are due, because assets often rise when they are due to complete a streak. It can be helpful to plan for streaks more than one race in advance using the streaks tracker.

8. If a driver misses a race or is replaced by a reserve driver, their price will likely plummet so monitor their sentiment and dump them if necessary. Their teammate will usually go in the other direction, so be prepared to sub them into your team.

9. Be prepared for anything, because the price changes often make zero sense. We call this Just PlayOn Things™. Sometimes a driver rises after a terrible performance, or a slowly rising asset can suddenly and massively jump. Last year, there should’ve been performance-based price changes but they never appeared to happen.
