Hi there, we’ve been through the first two grand prix and now I think is a good time to reflect on the outstanding driver performances so far and who to avoid going into the fantasy game.

Over in our discord we’re dissecting the game completely, we’re analysing data, figuring out the pricing system and someones even producing an AI dashboard to predict race performances. There’s a lot of good stuff going in the discord with a lot of good people keen on F1 and the F1 Fantasy game, come and join, you’ll definitely be the first to find out about any breakthroughs or tactics as we discover them!

The impressive drivers and the not so impressive.

In my 2020 Fantasy Guide blog post, I talked about how Norris was too unreliable and was one of the worst point scorers last year. He qualifies high but for whatever reason blows positions all race long, losing -2 for each position and burning points. However this year hes been stellar, being the most valuable and effective player in the game, if you had him in your team the last 2 races, you’re eating good. HOWEVER, from watching the races, in the first one both Red Bulls died and a lot of the grid was breaking down, which could have brought up his final position artificially. In race 2 I felt like Norris was dropping positions and always having to defend himself, it never looked like he was on the attack and it looked like it was going to happen all over again, him blowing positions. However in the final bit of the race he turned up and finished high. Do I trust him? More so than last time, but I’m cautious still. Giovinazzi is doing amazing right now, hes consistently scoring high and finishing the races, he is someone to keep your eye on.

Unfortunately Ocon hasn’t been as great as I’d hoped, neither Ricciardo or Raikkonen. Norris is in the same price bracket and just does so much more. I’m not sure what to say about Gasly, hes been great in terms of pace, consistent, and hes where he needs to be, in race 2 he got ruined by his strategy but overall I feel great about him.. but again there are just better picks. Russell is a difficult one to comment on too. In my opinion he would have finished top 12 or top 13 in both races if he 1) didn’t have a break down and 2) didn’t unfortunately go off at the first hint of a battle. In terms of pace he would have finished quite well and if that happened, he’d be the greatest pick in the game in my opinion. Unfortunately so far hes been unlucky, 2 for 2. But is that just a temporary thing? Who knows.

Essentially, don’t count out Russell yet, Giovinazzi is being consistent, Norris is spectacular so far but I’l still apprehensive. The Racing Point car is as good as we suspected. Because Norris is so good, that rules out picking Gasly, Ocon or Raikkonen.

What we know about pricing so far

As I mentioned, over on the F1 Fantasy Tracker discord, we have a great group of smart people working hard to figure out the game completely. Here’s a summary for what we know.

  • Sentiment is HOW close a driver is to gaining a $0.1million increase. For example, if Stroll has 68% sentiment, that meant he is 68% along the way to his price increase. Once his sentiment goes up by another 32%, he will reach 100% and that triggers the $0.1million increase, then his sentiment will go back to 0. If a driver has gone up by $0.3million and is currently saying 24%, his overall sentiment has increased by 324%, the 3 100%s to complete the $0.3million increase have passed and all that is remaining is the final 24%.
  • During the weekdays you can change your team UNLIMITED amount of times. They calculate substitutions on Saturday Qualifying, which they compare to your team line up on Sunday. If your team is exactly the same on Saturday as it was the LAST Sunday, that’s 0 substitutions. Whatever you do in the week doesn’t matter. This means you can use the weekdays to load up drivers with high sentiment who are about to increase, thus increasing your overall team net worth and giving you the ability to run your team line ups.
  • DURING the race weekend, you can select at the top of your team management back the next grand prix weekend. This is you preloading everything which kicks in right after the race. This is important as you want to have the drivers that did good in the race to be your picks as the mob will kneejerk, removing and adding drivers that performed in that race. This sets you up to money make during the week, providing you select drivers that are closest to completing their sentiment bar.
  • On average it takes about 0.04% of additions or removals of a driver to change their price. We’re working on finalising that number but this is the rough estimate at this point.

The best line up going into Hungary

So there are 3 variations going into Hungary. Please keep in mind that the line-ups won’t drastically change unless streaks appear or suddenly the race results are random. Please also note that I’ve made $3.8 million since dynamic pricing started (will write a blog post on how to make money next).

The team I’m running. Fairly similar to my original one I suggest except for Norris.
An alternate if you can afford Giovinazzi. I think hes someone to consider in Russell’s place, however I think Russell only ran into some unluck, I trust that he’ll do good in the next race.
Totally different constructor if you want to run Bottas also.

Updates and plans for the website.

We’ve redone the main overview table so it’s easier on the eyes in comparison to the capitalised text and in red. We’ve also tried to lean out the navigational white and red bars at the top as much we can so you can see more of the table at one time. We’re also changing the prices page completely to show all the new stats we know as well as display in line with the almost daily updates. We’ve successfully sped up the website, taking the data load time from 6 seconds to 1 or 2.

We’re making huge efforts as a group on the F1 Fantasy Tracker discord and if you really want to be ahead of the game or your friends, with real time updates and analysis on the game, that’s the best place to be!

As always we really appreciate any feedback about the website or blog, you can find us on Discord or Instagram. Stay tuned for the next one, thanks!
