EncrypGen created software called The Gene-Chain that empowers consumers, researchers, and businesses to share genetic data with one another using a blockchain for enhanced privacy and security and allowing users to pay each other with the native DNA token.

The company was founded in December of 2016 by the husband and wife team of Dr. David Koepsell and Dr. Vanessa Gonzalez Covarrubias. Dr. Covarrubias is a genomic scientist and Dr. Koepsell is a philosopher, lawyer, and author.

Both wanted to leverage blockchain technology to provide greater privacy for the sharing of genomic data for individuals and to give them a platform to sell their data while simultaneously making that data available for scientists.

Powered by Fabrx

Built and powered by Fabrx, the EncrypGen Dedicated DEX (decentralized exchange) was created to offer EncrypGen’s users a better, easier, and more secure way to acquire and transact with the DNA token.

The exchange was fabricated using 0x’s Launch Kit as the underlying infrastructure and customized according to EncrypGen’s specifications.

By having their own dedicated DEX, EncrypGen receives:

  1. Instant volume and liquidity
  2. No reliance on 3rd part exchanges; delisting, geo-fencing, hacks, closing, high placement fees, etc.
  3. Accessibility
  4. Seamless UX
  5. No KYC
  6. Customizable
